Williamsport’s Backwoods Boom Brings America 250 to Life
As communities across the nation prepare to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, the Village of Williamsport is bringing the celebration home with the inaugural Backwoods Boom America 250 Celebration on Saturday, July 4.
Held at Ballard Park, the event combines patriotic tributes, live music, food vendors, family activities, and a fireworks spectacular designed to honor both the nation’s history and the spirit of small-town America.
While Williamsport has long celebrated Independence Day, the 2026 event has been expanded to recognize the Semiquincentennial, marking 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The result is a uniquely local celebration that connects community traditions with one of the most significant milestones in American history.
The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with a patriotic opening ceremony featuring the Circleville Barbershop Chorus, a flyover by the Historical Aircraft Squadron, a 21-Gun Salute presented by the Sons of the American Revolution, a community flag-raising ceremony, and the unveiling of a Revolutionary War Soldier Memorial.
Together, these tributes honor the people and events that shaped the nation while setting the stage for an evening of entertainment and community celebration.
Following the opening ceremony, Ballard Park will come alive with music, food, and fellowship.
Direct Energy takes the stage at 6 p.m., followed by the Travis Brown Band at 8 p.m. Guests can enjoy a variety of food trucks and vendors throughout the evening while spending time with family, friends, and neighbors.
