Planning for America’s 250th anniversary is well underway in Pickaway County, and 2026 is starting to take shape in a meaningful way.
Local organizations, community leaders, and partners are working together to build a full year of opportunities to experience history, community traditions, and events across the county. This effort is part of America 250-Ohio, a statewide celebration led by the Ohio History Connection, where each month highlights a different theme tied to Ohio’s role in American history.
In Pickaway County, those themes are already showing up through a growing list of events and local initiatives.
The Circleville Pumpkin Show is planning to incorporate America 250 into its 2026 celebration, with more details expected. America 250-themed Pumpkin Show merchandise is already available locally, offering an early way to take part in the celebration.
The Hometown Heroes Banner Project will also carry added meaning this year. The banners, which honor active-duty service members from Pickaway County, will be displayed throughout Circleville in 2026. The program is coordinated through the Explore Pickaway Foundation in partnership with the City of Circleville, and applications are open through April 30.
Events are already being added to the Pickaway County calendar, with a mix of experiences taking place throughout the year. Early highlights include hands-on programming like Stars, Stripes & STEAM, live music and themed events like the Ted Lewis Museum Victory Dance, and outdoor and arts-focused programming at A.W. Marion State Park. Longstanding community events like the Ashville 4th of July celebration and fireworks in Williamsport will also be part of the year, along with historical experiences at Mt. Oval.
The Pickaway County Visitors Bureau is working alongside local partners to help organize, promote, and share these opportunities. This includes maintaining the community calendar, managing updates at Pickaway.com, and helping connect both residents and visitors with things to do in Pickaway County throughout the America 250 celebration.
Tourism continues to play an important role in Pickaway County, generating $209.7 million in economic impact and supporting more than 1,500 jobs locally.

In Ashville, families gather near Ohio’s Small Town Museum for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. In Circleville, the Christmas Parade winds through the center of town before the community tree is illuminated at Ted Lewis Park. Commercial Point hosts its own cheerful celebration filled with lights, music, and community spirit.
Santa makes several cheerful visits throughout the county each season. Families can enjoy Cookies with Santa at Rhoads Garden Center or visit the inclusive Santa House at Ted Lewis Park, which was designed and built by Logan Elm High School students. The Santa House is a favorite spot for photos, wish lists, and seasonal memories.
December brings a full schedule of performances, including brass concerts and festive plays presented by Pickaway County’s creative community. One annual highlight is Merry Tuba Christmas, a joyful gathering of tuba and euphonium players performing holiday classics.
Roundtown Players also presents a collection of short festive plays known as A Holiday Trio of One-Acts, which mix humor, heart, and community connection.
Pickaway County’s history shines during the season, especially at Mount Oval. Visitors can step back in time during events like the Vintage Noel Christmas Open House and the Jingle Bell Party. Ohio Tourism Day is a statewide celebration of the tourism industry, offering an opportunity for visitors to plan their Ohio vacations while learning about destinations and attractions from all corners of the state.
At this year’s event, Pickaway County will be represented alongside other tourism destinations, sharing free materials to encourage visitors to explore the region. We are excited to showcase Pickaway County as a must-visit destination within Ohio, highlighting our local events, attractions, and businesses. Partners such as the Circleville Pumpkin Show, Inspiration Station, and the Pickaway County Ag and Event Center will also be represented, helping to tell the story of the diverse experiences that await visitors in Pickaway County.

Ohio Tourism Day also brings attention to the economic impact of tourism in the state. Regionally, Pickaway County tourism generated over $209 million in visitor spending and contributed significantly to state and local tax revenues. This represents a 10% growth rate. The tourism activity also sustains approximately 1,600 jobs annually.
