The crowd favorite Roundtown Wiener Dog Derby returns to the Grandstand at the 2026 Pickaway County Fair in Circleville, Ohio. Registration begins at 12pm, races kick off at 1pm. Free with fair admission. Part of a full week of family entertainment June 20-27 at the Pickaway County Fairgrounds.
Enjoy an early morning guided hike through Stage’s Pond State Nature Preserve near Ashville during peak summer wildflower season.
Participants will explore blooming wildflowers and natural areas along an easy 1.5-mile hike through one of Pickaway County’s scenic preserves. Families are encouraged to attend. Guests should wear proper hiking gear and bring water for the hike.
There are no restrooms on site.

This family-friendly nature program combines bird identification and outdoor exploration with interactive bingo activities designed for a variety of ages. Participants will discover common Ohio birds while exploring one of Pickaway County’s scenic natural areas.
Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather, as portions of the program may take place outdoors along natural trails and boardwalk areas.

The Ashville 4th of July Celebration returns June 30 through July 4, 2026, bringing five days of family-friendly fun to Ashville Community Park. A Pickaway County tradition since 1929, the festival features carnival rides, live entertainment, contests, food vendors, the famous fish fry, a grand parade, and fireworks on Independence Day.
This year’s celebration includes performances by Gunner Harrison, Rob Adams, 7 Mile Bluegrass, Hollyview, The Raineys, and McGuffey Lane, along with community favorites such as Ashville Idol, the Miss Ashville 4th of July Queen Contest, Little Miss & Mr. Contest, and Baby Contest.
Visitors can enjoy midway rides, daily ride specials, festival food, and the community spirit that has made this event one of Central Ohio’s favorite Independence Day celebrations for nearly 100 years.
Highlights include the Grand Parade at 11 a.m. on July 4 and a fireworks display at 10 p.m. to conclude the festivities.
Hosted by the Ashville Community Men’s Club, festival proceeds support scholarships, youth programs, community projects, and local organizations throughout the year.

Kick off your morning with the Deercreek Dam Days Festival 5K Run/Walk in Williamsport, Ohio. This annual race is part of the beloved Deercreek Dam Days Festival, a multi-day celebration featuring live music, food, games, rides, and small-town charm.
The 5K features a flat, out-and-back course starting on North Water Street and finishing near the main stage. Whether you’re running or walking, participants of all ages and skill levels are welcome. All finishers will receive a participation medal.
Proceeds from the race benefit Hope House of Pickaway County, a nonprofit organization providing emergency shelter services for men experiencing homelessness in the community.
The Deercreek Dam Days Festival runs Wednesday, May 27 through Saturday, May 30, with free admission and activities for the whole family.
Step back in time this summer at Liberty Camp 250, a one-of-a-kind evening camp experience for youth hosted at Mt. Oval Historic House and Farm in Pickaway County.
Designed for children ages 9–12, this week-long program brings the founding of America to life through interactive learning, hands-on activities, and immersive historical experiences. Campers will explore early American history in a fun and engaging way while connecting with the stories and people that shaped the nation.

Spend a summer afternoon outdoors at the New Holland Cops and Kids Fishing Tournament, a free, family-friendly event hosted by the New Holland Police Department.
Held at New Holland Park, this youth fishing tournament is designed to bring kids and local officers together for a fun and positive community experience. Whether it’s a child’s first time fishing or a favorite hobby, this event is a great way to enjoy the outdoors in Pickaway County.
Young anglers will compete in age-based categories:
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category.
In addition to fishing, families can enjoy free snacks and drinks, face painting, and special visitors throughout the event. Donations will be accepted to support the department’s Christmas for Kids program in December 2026.
No fishing license is required, making it easy for families to participate.
All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and a waiver must be signed by a parent or guardian.
Celebrate Arbor Day in Circleville with a fun and educational morning at the Arbor Day Fair at Barthelmas Park.
This family-friendly event brings together local organizations including the Circleville Tree Commission, Pickaway County Master Gardeners, Rumpke Recycling, and the Pickaway County Park District to share resources, activities, and information about trees and environmental care.
Guests can explore interactive tables, learn about tree care, and connect with local experts. Free tree seedlings will be available while supplies last, making it a great opportunity to bring a little greenery home.
Children can enjoy arts and crafts activities, including a fun “make and take” tree hat. A tree planting demonstration will take place at 11:00 AM, and the City Arborist and Tree Commissioners will be on-site to answer questions.
