Pickaway County Autism Summit at Ohio Christian University Brings National Speaker to Circleville
Families, educators, and community members are invited to attend the Pickaway County Autism Summit on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at the Ohio Christian University Maxwell Center in Circleville, Ohio. The event focuses on understanding behavior, supporting learners, and connecting families with helpful resources available in Pickaway County and throughout the region.
The morning begins with a Resource Fair at 8:00 a.m., followed by the keynote presentation at 9:00 a.m. and breakout sessions beginning at 10:10 a.m. The summit offers an opportunity for families, educators, and professionals to gather, learn from one another, and explore practical strategies for supporting individuals with autism.
The Pickaway County Autism Summit is a collaborative effort organized by the Pickaway County Board of Developmental Disabilities (PCDD) in partnership with local school districts and community partners. Together, these organizations are working to provide resources, education, and support for individuals with autism and their families across Pickaway County.
Keynote Speaker Jordyn Zimmerman
The summit will feature keynote speaker Jordyn Zimmerman, an educator and disability advocate known for her work advancing communication access and inclusive learning environments.
Diagnosed as autistic at a young age, Zimmerman did not gain access to augmentative communication until she was 18. That experience now fuels her advocacy and her work helping educators and communities rethink how communication tools and accessibility supports can empower all learners.
Zimmerman has delivered presentations and keynote addresses around the world and serves as Board Chair of the national nonprofit CommunicationFIRST. Her insights on autism and accessibility have been featured in publications including The Boston Globe and The New York Times. She was also named to the 2025 Forbes Accessibility 100 List as a leading accessibility innovator.
Connecting Families with Resources
In addition to the keynote presentation and breakout sessions, the Resource Fair will connect families and educators with organizations offering programs, services, and support for individuals with autism. These conversations help strengthen the network of support available in Pickaway County and give families a chance to learn about resources close to home.
Events like the Pickaway County Autism Summit bring together educators, service providers, and families while highlighting the importance of inclusive learning environments and accessible communication for all.
