As one of the most culturally significant sites in the state of Ohio, the Slate Run Living Historical Farm brings visitors to its rolling hills for a feel of life from yesteryear. Farm volunteers in period costumes shear sheep and take care of the Percheron draft horses, Poland China hog and Merino sheep. No gas-powered tractors or equipment are found onsite.
Experience a unique opportunity to make a new friend by visiting a family-owned farm and gift shop where you can interact with alpacas. Browse through their gift shop which offers beautiful items made from alpaca fleece, and then proceed to pet one of these adorable animals. The farm also hosts special events such as shearing day throughout the year. Make sure to call and book an appointment before you visit.
Darby Creek Fields and Flowers is a family owned, retail flower farm. We offer a selection of over 1000 different colors and types of Daylily flowers.
At the farm we give you the opportunity to experience 14 fields of flowers. We will help you select the right flower to add to your own landscape, based on size, color and bloom timing and color you love. Once your selection is made, we dig the Daylillies for you to take home and replant into your own landscape. You can expect this investment in your landscape to bloom for a lifetime!
Enjoy a peaceful walk through the farm admiring the beautiful flowers during bloom (traditionally mid June-August). Once you have found the flowers that you love we will dig the flower and roots for you to take home and transplant. No need to bring gloves we will do the digging for you!
As you round the bend, the beauty of the yards fills your senses. Rows and rows of flowers, potting tools for young and old, even a wagon for a baby or two. And the scent of so many blossoms is overwhelming! Open “From Dawn to Dusk” from May to September, this picturesque yard is the perfect place to find that special flower arrangement or take family pictures (especially baby) with beautiful backgrounds.
