The trail is 1.5 miles long one way\, making the round trip approximately 3 miles. \nThis slow-paced\, easy ride is perfect for families and cyclists of all skill levels. Riders will roll out as a group from the YMCA at 3:00 PM. For those who can’t complete the full ride\, there’s the flexibility to turn back at any point. \nThese rides are weather permitting\, so participants are encouraged to bring their bicycles and safety gear for a fun and relaxing outdoor activity. The holiday\, observed annually on the last Monday of May\, began following the Civil War as a time for families and communities to decorate the graves of fallen soldiers. It has since grown into a national day of remembrance\, observed across the country. Memorial Day not only marks a time for reflection but also serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made to protect the freedoms we cherish. The ceremonies\, parades\, and moments of silence on Memorial Day ensure that these sacrifices are never forgotten\, and the valor of our fallen heroes is forever honored.  Please join the Pickaway County Soldiers’ Monumental Association for this sacred and continued tradition.\n\nCircleville and Pickaway County will honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country during the Memorial Day ceremonies and parade on Monday\, May 26\, 2025.\n\n8:00 AM The Memorial Day Ceremony at High Street Cemetery\n9:00 AM The Memorial Day Parade beginning at the corner of High and Pickaway Streets and will proceed south to Main Street\, west to North Court Street\, and will conclude at Forest Cemetery on North Court Street and Reber Avenue.  \n10:00 AM The Forest Cemetery Memorial Day service will be held at Soldier’s Glenn \n11:30 AM The Hitler Ludwig Cemetery Memorial Day service located at Hitler Ludwig Road.\n\nWe invite all to join us in these meaningful events to honor and remember our fallen heroes. SUMMARY:Circleville Cadet Band Concert
DESCRIPTION:German-American musician Oscar Ameringer came to Circleville to form a boy’s band in 1900. Before the proliferation of music education in the schools\, cadet bands provided musical training for budding young musicians. Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Friedman\, proprietors of Friedman’s Bazaar\, the leading local women’s clothing store\, enrolled their two eldest sons Edgar and Theodore in the cadet band. Ten-year-old Ted started on the E-flat clarinet because his fingers were too short for a regular B-flat clarinet. Prof. Ameringer recalled years later\, “Theodore couldn’t stay away from music.” \nCircleville will once again come alive with patriotic marches\, stirring overtures of Franz von Suppé\, immortal songs of Stephen Foster\, and other classics as The Ted Lewis Museum presents a concert in the beautiful Pickaway Amphitheater. Featuring selections from newly discovered 1900-01 Circleville Cadet Band programs that young Ted performed\, this special concert will be performed by 20 of Central Ohio’s finest uniformed musicians under the direction of Joseph N. Rubin. With special guests the Times Past Vintage Dancers illustrating the latest dances of 1900\, don’t miss this FREE trip back to the golden age of the concert band.
